How to Get Your Best Facial Filler Results

In this blog post, we will answer frequently asked questions about how to get your best facial filler results. Who needs filler, and why is it used? Is it safe? What can be achieved? Can I realistically achieve the look I want?

What is facial filler, and how is it used?

Aesthetic fillers come in various formulations. At New Image, we utilize the Allergan Juvederm brand of fillers. They are hyaluronic acid fillers, and as hyaluronic acid already exists in our bodies and, when properly injected, our skin happily takes on the product for a natural look. We use fillers to replace volume lost from age and sun damage and enhance facial features that seem/appear asymmetric or inadequate. Facial filler is injected underneath the layers of skin to bring plumpness, fill, lift, and symmetry when possible. Facial fillers can also enhance features, such as increasing lip show and plumpness and getting more forward projection of the chin when it is receded, which extends the jawline, bringing more balance to facial dimensions.

How much change can I expect to see with facial filler?

A lot can be accomplished in boosting confidence in your appearance through facial fillers. The most common question is, "How many syringes do I need, and what will it cost?" In return, our question is, what does your budget allow? Generally speaking, the more youthful face will require less filler as the volume loss is yet to come with the "blessing of more years."

If someone comes in with a one-syringe budget, the options are plumping the lips, bringing more forward projection to the chin, reducing fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth, or dampening the nasal labial folds that have begun. The more you age, particularly post-menopause, the more structural rebuilding in the mid-face region will be required to bring the plump and lift back, which will prevent or reduce the dreaded jowl formation. If a client comes in looking for solutions post-menopause, it is very common to start with 2-4 syringes of facial filler. Logically, for someone many years post-menopause, there is much more significant underlying fat pad loss and underlying bone structural changes. The reality is that in this situation, there are often six or more syringes. Now, before you gulp and say, "Impossible!" please understand it is a good idea, and we recommend that our clients undergo a treatment journey that allows for the facial filler treatments to be spread out.

The benefits of a treatment journey:

1. A treatment journey allows for gradual change and settling of product so that our team can properly assess and provide the most optimal and natural-looking results.

2. It also allows for treatments to better align with your budget.

How long does facial filler last?

Juvederm products are the industry's most trusted, safe, and effective filler. Their longevity ranges from 12 - 36 months, depending on the filler used and its density. Density matters when choosing a filler product, and you need to trust your provider to pick the appropriate filler based on your needs. You wouldn't want dense filler in your lips that doesn't move well when you speak and smile. And just the same, you don't want soft filler in your jawline; it needs a solid structure that holds firm.

Our 18 years of experience have shown us that clients who keep up with their filler treatments often need less when they come in at the 12-36 month mark (remember, depending on the filler type) for a maintenance treatment. The filler will metabolize over time, which is good since our facial structure continues to change.

At New Image, we always strive for the most natural look to find your "I feel better" point. Some clients want minor adjustments, and some want to reverse the clock as much as possible - and we are here for both!
