1. Drink Water Like It’s Your Job
You already know this one—eight glasses of water a day (that means 8-ounce glasses, NOT juice glasses! lol) will keep your skin looking healthy and plump. Hydrating your skin cells fills them with water, tightens them and gives your skin a smooth, hydrated appearance. Unfortunately, juice, sodas and other sugary beverages aren’t going to cut it—stick with pure H20 for ageless skin and if you aren’t a fan of the plain taste, you can always spike it with a squeeze of lemon or lime. (FYI: your coffee doesn’t count as it is a diuretic. . .meaning as you probably have noticed, it sends you to the bathroom leaving less water for your cells!)
2. Skip the Sun (Damage)
You’ll never stop me from recommending you stay out of the sun as much as possible (and wear sunscreen religiously!) to protect your skin from the oxidative damage of the sun. Simply doing everything in your power to protect your delicate skin from the sun’s harsh rays will help you to diminish sun-damage lines and wrinkles from forming in the first place. Yes, it’s true, we need some sun. . .but anything in excess is not good for us. . .including those seductive sun rays!
3. Power Up On Age-Reversing Nutrients
Eating foods high in water content can help hydrate your skin from the inside out. Try watermelon, cantaloupe, apples, oranges, kiwi, and watery veggies like celery, tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, and carrots. Make sure you’re getting enough vitamin C and zinc as they help in the production of skin-firming collagen and elastin.
4. Allow Your Skin to Repair With Quality Sleep
It’s incredible to think about all the internal repair work that takes place while we’re horizontal! Sleep is the time that skin rejuvenates and repairs itself so it’s absolutely crucial to make sure you’re not just getting enough hours, but that those hours are of the best quality possible.
5. Exercise to Circulate Skin-Loving Nutrients
Yes, exercise factors in here too ladies and gents. When you move your body it increases circulation of oxygen and nutrients, plus toxins get released through sweat which equals clearer, firmer skin. Oh dear! I need to re-think my aversion to sweat! lol
